Along with the 16 cities located within the boundaries of Salt Lake County, there are a number of townships and communities.  Each of these has its own planning & zoning commissions, as well as a Community Council. 

Because these townships and communities are located within the unincorporated boundaries of the county, they have direct access to county resources including police & fire protection, health services, economic and community development, and planning services.
