Second Hand Gems found at
Cassandra's Closet
Imagine if you could dress for success without breaking your budget. With Cassandra’s Closet, 2261 East 3300 South, you no longer have to choose between your wardrobe and your wallet. Though the women’s consignment store has been in its current location for just over a year, it’s been a staple of Salt Lake City for more than 26 years.
“The original owner retired last June so the business location moved,” says owner Sandra Woolley. “I worked [at Cassandra’s Closet] for seven years and when I found out it was going to close down, at the last minute I decided to buy it. I don’t regret that decision. I’ve loved every single minute of it.”
Cassandra’s Closet stocks the best in women’s clothing, whether it’s Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Nordstrom’s or designer brands like Chanel, Dior and Prada. And while the clothes may cost only a third of the original price, they’re all in new or like-new condition.
“We don’t take anything that’s not in good condition – we even have a lot of clothes come in with the tags still on them,” Sandra says. “All clothing must be clean and pressed and on hangers for us to accept them. We also don’t take anything that’s more than two years old. You can get all the current clothes for not much money.”
“In these tough economic times, we have to be more cost conscious about our dollars,” Sandra says. “By shopping here you can continue helping the economy and small businesses and you can look great doing it.”
Sandra accepts clothing from nearly 10,000 different consignors who give their clothes to Sandra to sell and then split the proceeds 50/50. Along with her wide selection of classic women’s clothing, Sandra has a variety of jewelry, some even made especially for the store. She works hard to make Cassandra’s Closet a cozy environment for her customers, with cookies on the back counter and decorative plants that are so tempting new customers often ask if they’re for sale.
“No, the plants are not for sale. I get that question a lot from first time customers,” Sandra says. “It’s a wonderful life. I love to shop and I love to help people find interesting, different things for their needs.”
Cassandra’s Closet, 2261 East 3300 South, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Sundays. For more information or additional coupons and deals, visit www.cassandrascloset.net or call 801-484-2522.
